INSCAPE

Alexandra Stréliski is a beloved classical pianist from Montreal who is known for her critically-acclaimed minimal yet cinematic music. Her 2018 record “Inscape” explores themes of pain, growth and healing. 13 neoclassical piano ballads guide listeners through an emotional and self-reflective journey. This fictional concert poster is accompanied by a 7 inch vinyl featuring 2 singles from the album; Plus Tôt and Ellipse.

The visuals on the poster were made following a series of explorations and exercises, spanning over multiple weeks, using various mediums and techniques to capture the essence of the record. Also, I listened to the album on a continuous loop. Yes, a continuous loop. I lived and breathed Inscape. The final visual was made using vectors and gradients. The imagery is all about growth and change, alluding to the main themes of Inscape.

Vinyl side A (Plus Tôt)
Vinyl side B (Ellipse)

My intention was to have the vinyl speak the same visual language as the concert poster. The vinyl is double-sided, one side evoking darkness, and the other hope. The spheres used in the music poster were used to create dreamy cover art for this record. The record’s inner sleeve was made by silk screening the type on a tinted plastic sheet. This process was difficult, but really paid off in the end!
